    giantpaperbot - New HD

    Sorta…

As an early birthday present, Mr. Giantpaper got me a new hard drive for my Macbook Pro. 😮

The MBP (called humongousbot) has been making these angry grinding noises for a long time now. After looking it up online, I have found that the hard drive needs to be replaced. I looked up some compatible laptop hard drives on Amazon and settled for this 1TB Western Digital.

Actually switching out the hard drives was a bit of an adventure (when Mr. Giantpaper and I looked for instructions online on how remove the hard drive, we saw that the data cable ribbon thing was connected to the drive as it should…and then glued on top of the drive itself…

But once everything was in place, formatting the drive and installing the OS was easy (since the CD/DVD drive is busted, I already had converted my 8GB flash drive into a bootable drive with Snow Leopard install files on it).

Other than a couple network-related problems (can’t access Google’s sites or Dropbox through the desktop app or their site), everything is splendid.

    This is Aperture

    :O

Only thing that bothered me about the video is…Wheatley never calls GLaDOS by name. Heck, none of the AI really call each other by name (except for maybe the Fact core when referring to the Space core and Adventure core). Wheatley mainly calls GLaDOS “she” or “her” and GLaDOS calls Wheatley “he”, “him” or “that little idiot”.

[dispenser][dispenser]s Minutes Left of the Mission

    (Team Fortress 2)

Apparently a soldier cracked some kind of whip (I guess it was this whip? O.O)* in a payload map and for a minute, the entire game crashed. When everything returned to normal and the game commenced, ummmm…it was not so….normal…as in, the game textures were all mixed up. As in, metal objects like this checkpoint had a fire texture instead of a gray texture. A BLU soldier wore what looked like a RED scout’s texture. Even more confusing, a BLU engie wearing a RED engie’s texture (took a while to figure out why I wasn’t doing any damage to him). Most of the other players’ textures were solid light gray and

    *Based on Mr. Giantpaper’s retelling.

Also O.o when I brought up the Steam overlay, Steam itself was mistextured (which I was not able to save a picture of unfortunately ;o;). But in the chat window, Mr. Giantpaper’s avatar was replaced with my TF2 spray (the cat-eared silhouette shown here). And the window background itself was kind of a solid, light gray (as opposed to the mid-gray tone it normally is).

Exiting the game seemed to solve it. Mr. Giantpaper said something about how it affected him and probably everyone else (something to do with the Soldier’s Disciplinary Action)…
