Storytelling while asleep

About a billion years ago in college, I used experience every dream trope (false awakening, lucid dreaming, and just extremely vivid, movie-like dreams), along with sleep paralysis (which is kind of like dreaming, but you’re awake). Now I mostly have somewhat vivid dreams if I’m lucky, and the most I can lucid dream is detect that I’m in a dream or wake up on command, but can’t control it or stay asleep.

Dream Terminology

False awakening— A dream where you wake up…but you’re not actually awake. You’re still dreaming and you dreamed you woke up. Bonus if you’re stuck in a false awakening loop. 😑

Lucid dreaming— The ability to control your dreams and be aware that you’re dreaming. When I had this, I basically stopped having nightmares because I could control the outcome.

Sleep paralysis— Not really dream-related, but you feel like you’re dreaming. Sometimes you might wake up and realize you can’t move or open your eyes. And YMMV on this, but a lot of people sense an evil or malevolent entity nearby. IIRC, this really isn’t paranormal, but more psychological.

  • Dream: Are Witch-Ghosts a Thing?

    Part 1

    Cast:

    • Peach: cat

    Peach and I were watching an episode of Pokemon, set a few years into the future. It was mainly about Ash and Misty, who were playing on the beach with a group of younger kids. I noticed that Misty was definitely older–she sounded older, and she looked older. But then I was becoming annoyed because she sounded too much like Lucy van Pelt and Ash sounded too much like Charlie Brown. XD

    Part 2

    Cast:

    • W88: brother
    • SM00: sister

    This dream (err, nightmare? O_o) was actually a movie that we were watching on TV. We started watching sometime in the middle, and it played all the way to the end. When it ended, they played it over again. I ended up watching it the second time, but didn’t finish it to the end (not even to the part where we started before), since I woke up. Whenever we watched the movie, we became the characters in that movie.

    Oh yeah. I thought about putting the scene where I was exploring around the house in the middle of this entry, since I was watching that first…which was in the middle of the movie. But it didn’t make much sense for it to be in the middle, and it makes a good intro. (And I figured it really was meant to be in the beginning anyway.) Uhh…well, the original order the dream had the events in made it seem screwed up, so I rearranged them, and they now make sense.

  • Dream: A Toilet for Every Room

    This is actually Part 3, but since the first two parts are so short and incohorent, I didn’t feel like including them.

    My family, Jeidai and her family and I were all transported to some kind of alternate world, kind of like the Spirit World in Spirited Away, set in Edo Japan. We were given some sort of mission that involved a hotel/restaurant we would be staying at.

    The hotel was pretty small actually, about the size of a small two-story American home (and was laid out like one). It also didn’t get many guests, as we were the only ones staying there at the time.

  • Dream: Roll out the baddies

    This morning, I had another dream. I only remember a few parts, that involved a huge palace, kinda like Theed Palace, near my grandpa’s house. In the ballroom, stormtroopers, clonetroopers and…Blue Guards? Senate Guards? (they call the Imperial Guards the Red Guards, so why not Blue Guards? :P) were all running (all synchronized and choreographed like in a musical) to this event/ritual that was about to take place in some other part of the palace. I think Palpatine was involved. The Imperial March was playing in the background. Yup, that’s about it. :3

    On another note, it had sort of a Gothic/vampire feel to it. After the running troopers and Senate guards cleared, a couple, both dressed in royal blue (like the Senate Guards) and black followed after them. I think the guy was actually some kind of vampire, and he was possessing/controlling the girl/woman to be his new lover. I knew I was supposed to rescue her, but couldn’t help thinking that she looked really cool in her new attire (black gown, royal blue velvet cape with high collar, dark/medium brown hair and pale skin).

  • Dream: Lord of the りんぐ

    A Ring/Lord of the Rings crossover dream/nightmare about a very, powerful gold ring. Whoever put it on got amazing, evil psychic powers, but putting it on had two downsides:

    • it rots your soul
    • Sadako comes after you via the TV 😛

    It couldn’t be destroyed so easily, being really durable and fire-proof. When I tried stopping the leader of a powerful crime ring from wearing it, I thought about flushing it down the toilet. But then realized it’ll end up the sewers where someone else could find it and wear it. But then I woke up before the dream could go on. (Also darn, I shoulda thought about taking it to Mount B-4. Or Cabin Doom. :P)

    I think this is the best crossover dream I had. I’ve had one with Gundam W and American Girls crossovered (the next day I got a Mario dream as a part 2 to that dream), but it wasn’t as good as this. :3
