So….basically what Twitter is. This microblog is more like Tumblr than Twitter, IMO.

Google to free G Suite users: Pay up or lose your account
Welp. ? I did some looking up and found that Apple has a similar service (Custom Email Domain) that I can just use since I’m already paying for a iCloud+ subscription.
Sidenote:
- From the article: “Starting May 1, Google will try to automatically “upgrade” users to a paid account if it has available billing information.”
- People in the comments are saying that they did not get an email from Google about this (and neither did I).
?
(I don’t have any sort of billing associated with my Google Workspace account, but I wonder how many G Workspace folks are going to find out on July 1, that they were automatically subscribed to Google Workspace’s paid tier.)

Some Roku smart TVs are now showing banner ads over live TV
In addition to boycotting the companies that do stuff like this, also think about boycotting the companies whose products are being advertised like this. Show them that this is NOT an effective marketing strategy.
Case in point: don’t buy from Sleep Number ??
[EDIT] Wanna add that I’m ok with ads in general. But time and place. Do a commercial break. Don’t put a banner over the thing I’m watching!!!

Remember this? I’m glad other people find this annoying as well! (◕‿◕✿) Don’t validate on the keyup/keydown event–do it on the blur event (if using JS)! Or how to validate forms the correct way with CSS.

YSK That if you are a Verizon Wireless customer in the US, a new program launched today called Verizon Custom Experience. It tracks every website you visit and every app you use. The program automatically enrolls all customers, who must specifically opt out if they don’t want to be tracked.
Can we call this for what is? ONLINE STALKING ?
Facebook creepily tracking you even though you don’t want to be tracked? ONLINE STALKING ?

I’m glad no one at work asks us to do the double space thing btw. ? Web browsers don’t really render this.
(Also clicking “Read more” at the end of the quote does nothing for some reason on embedded reddit comments. You have to click the entire embedded quote.)

Brutal Honesty is NOT always the answer
Here’s the entire thread for context (reddit just threw the other replies to the OP, so not sure how to link to this particular conversation).
I tend to be rather thin-skinned myself and it just never feels good ramming someone with the “brutal honesty” truck. It’s possible to get your point across without tearing them down and at the same time, without sugarcoating it.
