“Market for feature phone apps is low-tech goldmine - BBC News”

Feature phones get no love

Feature phones are AWESOME.

The battery on mine can last for about 2-3 weeks before needing to be charged up. I almost never turn it off (unless if I’m in a movie theater or somewhere similar), and I never plug it in to be charged up, unless if the battery ran out (if I did this to my iPod Touch, I would need to charge it up every day, and it doesn’t even have power-sucking features like GPS and 3G radio). I rarely need to try to conserve battery life in case if I need to make an emergency call. If I notice it’s down to one bar while at home, and I know I’ll need it the next day, I just charge it up.

Many of them are small enough to fit into your pocket, so you won’t have to worry about breaking the screen if you were to sit down.

There aren’t many cool apps like Yelp or Fandango that can tell you restaurants that are open nearby or showtimes (that I know of), but SMS has a fix for that!

No tiny keys on touchscreen keyboards. щ(ಠ益ಠщ) (I actually kinda like touchscreens, but only when the keys are big.)
