Mocha and Muffin both went to the vet today. One is peeing blood and the other is pooping blood.
Mocha continues to pee blood occasionally despite being treated for urinary infections (I was worried that she did have stones after all), and Muffin ummm…was never really treated for her bloody poop. The vet (different from Mocha’s vet) thinks she ate something she shouldn’t have and gave her a shot. Yeah…
This time, Muffin went to Mocha’s vet (who is also a dog/cat vet), who weighed Muffin, checked her heart with a stethoscope and inspected her teeth. Her heart sounds good, her teeth look good (except for this one molar in the back, which had some brown stuff creeping up on it). I guess my dad was planning on bringing Muffin back to her regular vet for some fecal tests (after telling him and Mom what needs to be done), but instead changed his mind after I semi-subtly hinted that Muffin should probably see a different vet (for a second opinion and growing dissatisfied with the previous one).
We (dad and I) left Mocha and Muffin at the vet’s office for a couple hours, so they could collect some pee/poo samples and brought them home. Both samples had some amount of blood in them and were sent to be analyzed for crystals (Mocha’s pee) and Giardia (Muffin’s poop, the invoice we got mentioned Giardia Elisa–the vet said the blood in Muffin’s was fresh, as in, not old or turning brown, which I read somewhere online, means it’s lower intestine-related or something). The vet will call about lab results tomorrow.
I guess Muffin also got her vaccines today, since she hasn’t had them in a really long time/never (I think she’s been vaccinated before, and since Zoey just fairly recently had her shots, I’m a little weirded out that either Mom or Dad forgot to the same done for Muffin…and probably Peach, or the other vet didn’t send them a reminder).
In related news, the car ride back home was a happy one for Mocha. I had put a chopped up baby carrot in her hay/treat pouch (which I got for free with my latest order from Sewing4acause) and spent the entire time eating. When she was done with the carrot, she moved onto the hay, which is very different from coming home from her previous vet visit (which was sitting in her carrier in terror). Muffin…uhh…Muffin spent the entire meowing, obviously not happy about being stuffed into a tiny carrier.
I’m getting quite a few compliments from vet staff on Mocha’s new carrier. ;3
