Muffin went to the vet today for her eye. As I mentioned in this Flickr photo of her, her left eye is bulging out. Originally, I thought it was because it had been injured so much (after having been in multiple fights). Her eye always has been kind of weepy because of that, but it started bulging out just now (so much so that I seriously thought about making her an indoor cat, but then realized that would never happen because she’d be ripping up the furniture and my parents would be pissed). But a trip to the vet told us that she has a glaucoma in that eye—it’s either blocked (so the usual fluids that make her eye weepy can’t drain) or there’s a tumor (err, let’s just pray it’s not that). Either way, there’s a lot of pressure in her eye.

The vet gave us some eye drops for her, which we’ll have to give to her for the rest of her life. If it works, the bulginess should go down a little. If not…

• We could have LASIK on her ($1500).
• We could have it (the eye) removed ($300). :x Since the vet’s a friend of ours, he said he wouldn’t charge much.

Ummm…at the moment, I just hope the eye drops work, since I don’t think we could afford $1500. And at the same time, I want her to have both of her eyes. It might sound shallow of me, but I keep thinking that if she were to look up at me with her one good eye and her left eye socket sewn shut (so it wouldn’t be infected), I might not be able to see her as the same furry, yellow kitty we had before. :cry: So yes, I’m fine with having to give her eye drops for the rest of her life.

(Then again, I also tend to be a little paranoid about a lot of things. Maybe she wouldn’t look so different if that were to happen. But either way, I’m seriously hoping the eye drops work! :O)
