Jeidai, Lorin, Jeidai’s brother and myself came back from Anime Expo ’08 about a couple hours ago (Ryan’s with his friends at Disney World in Florida at the moment, so he couldn’t go).

I didn’t take any pictures (just about anywhere you look is populated by either merchandise or people—and people seem to get a little harried if you take pictures of their merchandise and I didn’t want to ask anyone if I could take pictures of them). But I did see a quite a bit of cosplayers, whose characters I recognized:

  • Ed Elric (Fullmetal Alchemist)
  • Speed Racer (Jeidai said he was dragging his car behind him, which had a monkey sitting in it ^_^;)
  • Alucard (Hellsing)
  • Kenshin and Kaoru (Rurouni Kenshin)
  • Sonic, Tails, Shadow and Knuckles
  • Sven Vollfied (Black Cat)
  • a couple of Pikmin
  • Yuna (Final Fantasy X), Aerith (FFVII)
  • Sailor Moon, Sailor Mercury, Sailor Jupiter
  • Link (x2, Legend of Zelda)
  • Pyramid Head (Silent Hill games)
  • Jack Sparrow (XP Pirates of the Caribbean)
  • Riku (Kingdom Hearts games)
  • Sakura (x3, Cardcaptor Sakura)
  • Kadaj (Advent Children)
  • Rikku (FFX)
  • Pikachu (Pokemon)
  • Utena (Revolutionary Girl Utena)
  • Cloud (FFVII)
  • companion cube
  • a Gundam
  • a Wiimote
  • Barrett (FFVII)
  • Vash (Trigun)
  • Juunana (DBZ)
  • Vegeta (DBZ)
  • Sephiroth (FFVII)
  • Roxas, Axel (Kingdom Hearts games)
  • Yuffie (FFVII)
  • Domo-kun (and a green version and a yellow version of him)
  • Naruto and Sakura
  • Kakashi (Naruto)

As for any loot I got…

  • Snoopy (wearing a kimono/Japanese-style outfit—both Lorin and I got for Jeidai actually, since today is her birthday :P )
  • Shingu DVD (Vol. 1—for $10 8D)
  • a hippo button from The Fuzz Academy
  • a large print of someone’s CG (the person ran out of business cards, so she wrote her URL on a piece of paper—Jeidai is going to e-mail it to me)

(First two came from the exhibit hall and last two came from the Artists Alley.)

The entire event was at the LA Convention Center (which is where Japan Expo is normally held). The hall where Japan Expo takes place in? It was used for registration for AX. It was mainly empty though. There was a line forming for folks who needed to register, but those of us who already pre-registered (thanks to Jeidai :D ), we only had to go up to these computers with our confirmation e-mails, scan the barcode and have our badges printed out. No waiting necessary. ^_^

  1. Lorin:

How can you forget Negi Springfield?

  2. I didn’t see Negi. :? Oh, but I did see some of his students in their school uniforms (the only ones I could remember were Setsuna and Asuna…I think Haruna was there too?).

  3. Lorin:

I forgot. But I was pointing right at him

  4. Oi, I only saw the students though. :/

  5. Ohhh yeah … I remembered twice to do that and still didn’t. @.@ It’s lychi.deviantart.com. (Does it matter that this isn’t e-mail? :P )

  6. No. :P Thanks!

(Oh yeah, the print I bought is this one: http://lychi.deviantart.com/art/Noah-63551565 Let’s just say I really liked the classical feel of the piece. ;o; So inspiring!)
