The layout I mentioned earlier isn’t coming along as well as I had hoped. It still looks pretty good to me, but I felt the sidebar wouldn’t would’ve (proofreading is a good thing >:O) been too small, and I wouldn’t be able to fit a whole lot of text in it. And some other issues. So instead, I decided to make another one, with a completely different look. The first one was paper-like (the entire container/wrapper was like one big piece of lined notebook paper, the sidebar module were little post-it notes in the margins of the paper, etc). This new one is shiny—really shiny. Shiny graphics seem to be in these days, but I wanted to make a shiny layout, since I just figured out how to make graphics look…shiny! :3 And it’s also kind of inspired by Slashdot in terms of look and how they have icons on what the article is referring to.

Uhh…so earlier, I mentioned some amusing incidents in Spanish Fall ’07, and I just remembered something equally amusing that happened when I was taking Japanese in high school.

My mom and I (I was homeschooled in high school) were going through the list of vocabulary words from the book, when she asked me what kurashikku meant and said it was a type of music. I thought hard about it, and knew it had to be from the English language by the sound.

me: “Crash?”
Mom: “…No, there’s no such thing as crash music.”

When I couldn’t figure it out, she said it was classical. :P (I was thinking of only the first three syllables.)

[Edit: June 30, 4:58 PST] Actually, now that I think of it, “crash music” makes me think of song composed of different car crashes. ._.;

  1. It sounds sort of like a derivative of metal music…like metal music made specifically for car crashes. :P

  2. XD A soundtrack for action films with lots of speeding (in cars) and crashes. :P

  3. I thought of crash first too. XD

    Too bad about your other layout. :( I really liked it. You can’t widen the sidebar area?

  4. I’m thinking it must be the r/l dealie. :3

    Ehe, I wish I could. ToT But the thing is the sidebar isn’t just on one side—it’s on both sides, since I’m using the margins on both sides of the paper for the sidebar area. And I kind of wanted the post-it notes to fit the margins proportionally, and making them any bigger would’ve made them look a little too large for the paper. :/

    (And the moment, I’m craving something shiny…really shiny and stereotypically Web 2.0esque.)

    But I am thinking of bringing it back later on. :3
