OH NOES, Tengo 24 Años

Life | June 8, 2008 · 2:37pm

24When I turned 16 eight (eek) years ago, my mom, grandma and other relatives started showering me with “Happy Sweet 16″* wishes, and I thought ‘oh GWASH, I’m old!**’ And birthdays just didn’t seem as exciting anymore. :O

*Arg, I actually detested being told this. XO I always saw 16 as the age where teenagers think they’re adults and think they can take on adult responsibilities, when they’re just kids. I was not like that. I disliked being saddled with adult responsibilities and I knew it well.
**I mean “old” as in full-fledged adult old, even though I normally think that about people once they hit their twenties.

At church, Lorin told some people that today is my birthday, and my mom made them guess my age (“21? 22? 23? 25? … 24?”). And they knew I didn’t look 24, but “[I'll] appreciate it!” (I already do, thanks for reminding me :P ).

Anyway, one more year until I’m a quarter of a century year old. :O :O :O XO

[Edit: 4:40pm] I forgot. Today is also Kirsten Larson’s birthday! :D (Yes, I celebrate American Girl birthdays.)

  1. I was never a fan of the sweet sixteen. And more recently, the quinceañera. People spend way too much money on those.

    Happy birthday, Kirsten! :P

  2. I had to look up “quinceañera” on Wikipedia. ^_^; I never heard of it, but I figured it was the 15 equivalent of the sweet 16 one. :3 But yeah, I have to agree.

  3. Happy birthday! I never actually thought of you as 24 for some strange reason…but take pride in the fact that you’re now the same age as a famous TV show! :P

  4. Thanks! :D

(This TV show…I can’t think of any famous 24 year old TV shows, but when I see that big 24 number, I think “24“? ^_^;)

  5. Noellium,

I wanted to share an award with you called Sharing the Love. It was created by Crystal of Memoirs of a Mommy to honor the donor who gave her son a new heart. You can find more info here:
